The creation and evolution of a family is an amazing, dynamic and sometimes difficult thing. There are bound to be questions and challenges as you face this wondrous time. My job as a doula is to guide and support you as you forge your way through these challenges. The specific needs of each family will vary, of course, but I have listed some of the most common aspects of my role as a doula. The key thing to remember is that, as a doula, I am there to support YOU in your hopes, dreams, worries and concerns. I aim to help you achieve your ideal birth experience, not to dictate a set course for you. Your family, your way.

Labour/Birth Doula

Two to three prenatal appointments at your home or a neutral location.

On-call labour availability from 38-42 weeks pregnant.

Access to me via cellular phone and e-mail from date of hire.

Worksheets and handouts to help evaluate birth preferences and questions.

Access to my extensive pregnancy and birth library (including short term lending of books and other materials).

Birth Plan assistance.

Informational and resource support regarding your pregnancy, childbirth and parenting concerns.

Physical and emotional support during your labour at home and/or in the hospital.

Continued presence during the immediate postpartum period (approximately three hours, depending on the situation).

In home visit at approximately three to five days postpartum to review birth experience (and to visit with the new arrival, of course).

Contract specifics will be discussed at our first in-person meeting, including rates and the responsibilities of both parties. I am currently working towards my certification so my fees do reflect this introductory period and there are certain paperwork requirements that I will ask of you in exchange for this reduced rate. I also offer a sliding scale for low-income families.

All client information will be kept completely confidential, including, but not limited to the labour timeline/ birth story and any photographs taken. With your written consent ONLY, I may ask to post individually approved images, testimonials, and/or birth stories on my website.
